Dallas- Nora "Teddy" "Tellas" Metellas Rathbone Freeman, 87 of Dallas went to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 20, 2016 at Brian Center Hickory Viewmont surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mitchell County on December 12, 1928 to Clarence R. Rathbone and Mae Ledford Rathbone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Laird M. Freeman, her brothers and sisters, James Rathbone and wife Clara, Iva Pitman and husband Robert, Dorothy Rathbone; granddaughter, Erika Pasour, brothers-in-law, John Freeman, Bill Freeman and wife Lois, Carl Freeman and wife Phyllis, Roy Freeman and Jerry Freeman; nieces, Tammy Freeman, Linda Elmore, Anita McGee, nephew, Charles Pleasant.

Nora grew up in the Cane Creek Hawk Community of Bakersville, NC. She attended Bowman School there. The family moved to Cramerton to work in textiles, Nora had everything she owned in a brown paper bag. She went to work at Southern Bell at the age of 16. She had never talked on a telephone before in her life; retired after 35 years. Nora was a charter member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle Church where she loved her church and church family. Nora will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Nora enjoyed cooking, canning, reading, watching TV, talking on the phone and shopping.

Left to cherish her memories include her loving daughters Rita Pasour, Rose Lynn and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Anna Watkins, Andrew Watkins and wife Kimberly, Abraham Pasour and wife Jessica, Emily Crater and husband Gene; great grandson, Dalton Watkins; sister-in-law and dear friend Ethelene Freeman, sister-in-law's Faye Free, Carolyn Pleasant, Joyce Wiggins and Margaret Freeman; lifelong friends, Marlene White and Pat Turner;
7 nieces and 13 nephews

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to Kayla "Nancy" Morris, Priscilla Sutton, Jessica Wifensky for their special care and compassion for Mrs. Freeman.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 23rd from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 noon, Independent Baptist Tabernacle Church with Reverend Ralph Carver and Reverend Ricky Watkins officiating. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Cane Creek Cemetery in Bakersville, NC.
