Gastonia-Reverend Nathaniel Chester Jones, 88 of 2755 Union Road, went home to be with the Lord July 8, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was loved dearly by his children and grandchildren
He was a native of Pittsylvania County, VA- born July 31, 1921 to the late Napoleon B Jones and Stella Scruggs Jones.
Rev. Jones is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Lucille Luallen Jones and Five Brothers, Charlie, Beverly, Calvin, Fred and N.B. Jones, Jr
He served in the US Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his children: Rudy L Jones and wife Nadine of Lowell, NC, Roger S. Jones and wife Pamela of Greensboro, NC, Catherine Jones White and husband Richard of Morganton, NC;
Grandchildren: Teresa Uphoff, Johnathan White, Lauren Jones Shinn, Emily Jones Tucker, Roger S. Jones, Jr., Ronnie W. Jones, Russell B. Jones, Susan Curd
Five Great Grandchildren
Two Sisters: Charlotte Setzer of Lincolnton and Faye Crowley
A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Maranatha Temple Church of God with Reverend Walter Barwick, Rev. Troy Burrell and Dr. Sammy Oxendine officiating
The Family will receive friends 1:30-3:00 pm Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the church
Interment will follow Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly with Military Honors
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Burrell, Trey Tucker, Brian Browning, Joe Uphoff, Scott Darnell, Lance Shinn and Rusty Cornelius
Memorials may be made to Maranatha Temple Church of God , 2435 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056
