Gastonia - Nancy Elmore Deaton, 83, entered into Heaven on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Nancy was born in Gastonia and was the daughter of the late C.L. "Doc" and Pearl Shepherd Elmore.
Nancy was a graduate of Belmont High School where she was a cheerleader for Belmont High School. Nancy briefly worked for Wix Corporation and then became a full time mom and home maker.
Nancy was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and is a member of Unity Baptist Church. She taught Young Adults and Adult Sunday School Classes at both churches.
Nancy loved to laugh and make other people laugh, she always smiled and was a Godly lady, she touched so many people's lives and made everyone feel special.
She was deeply loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, brothers, sisters and her many friends.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Billy Joe Deaton; two daughters, Carolyn Deaton Moore and husband Steve, Beverly Deaton Waters and husband Don of Gastonia; one son, Linden Ray Deaton and wife Paula of Dallas; one sister, Freida Guice of Belmont; one brother, Ernest Leonard Elmore and wife Mary of Smithfield, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Christy Lee Moore of Gastonia, Kevin Hunter Moore and wife Carol of Franklin, North Carolina, Summer Deaton Sebastian and husband Josh of Dallas; one precious great granddaughter, Kaleigh Arabella Moore; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Unity Baptist Church, 482 North Myrtle School Road, Gastonia with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Mathis officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Billy Joe Deaton, Jr.; two brothers, James Lee Elmore, Paul Edward "Tommy" Elmore.
