Charlotte- Monica Elaine Black, previously of Charlotte, N.C., beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend had just turned 26 when she was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on May 3, 2010. She was always smiling even through all of her pain and kidney treatments. Monica always put others before herself and loved her family dearly. She was born on April 23, 1984 in Charlotte N.C. to parents, Jake Black and Susan James.
Monica is survived by her mother and stepfather, Susan and Reid James, her father, Jake Black, brother Joseph Black, sister, Melissa Berryann, husband Tommy, stepsister and husband, Ashley and Nelson Diaz and stepbrother, Matthew James. grandfather, Jimmy Lowder, grandparents, Buck and Virginia James, aunts, Donna Sheppard and husband Doug, Teresa Bailey and husband Doug, uncles, Jimmy Lowder, Wesley Lowder and wife Jan, special nephew, Nicky Black, cousins, Andy, Cameron, Hannah, and Kristina, and nephews, Travis and Jacob Doss, and numerous great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Lincolnton Dialysis Center for the special care and compassion they gave Monica.
The Family will receive friends, Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home in Gastonia, N.C.
Celebration of life service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2010 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1201 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia, N.C.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Freedom Drive, Charlotte, N.C.
