Mitchell D. Cureton

April 7, 1948 — November 20, 2011

Mt. Holly- Mitchell Dwain Cureton, 63 of 242 Shadowbrook Lane went to his heavenly home to be with the Lord November 20, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center.
He was a native of Dothan, AL., born April 7, 1948 to the late Chester and Jean Spiegner Cureton Chapman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; he retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company of Charlotte. Mitch was a member of the Lowell Masonic Lodge and a member of the York Rite of Gastonia.
Mitch was a active member of Community Baptist Church of Dallas, NC where he was involved in the Men's Bible Study group, Choir, Motorcycle Ministry and many other activities in the church.
He was preceded in death by his father Chester Cureton and two brothers Kirby and Michael Joe, and his stepfather Buck Chapman
Survivors include her wife of 26 years, Sarah Shuford S. Cureton;
his mother Jean Cureton Chapman of Headland; a son Ricky Cureton and wife Angel of Bessemer City; a daughter Kimberly McCurry and husband Danny of Gastonia; Three stepdaughters Tami Taylor of Vernon, Fl, Tessie McCauslin of Charlotte, Teresa Prichard and husband of Washington, NC;
Sister Jeannie Hamilton and husband Kevin of Headland, AL, Brother Kevin Cureton and wife Shirley of Ashford, AL.; Brother-in-law Bill Shuford and wife Beth; Sister-in-laws Sheila Jane Flowers and husband Wesley, Mary Ann Teague, Margaret Beard, Martha McHargue and husband Jim; Twenty Two grandchildren and Two great grandchildren; Twenty Four nieces and nephews, Fifty Four great nieces and nephews
Mitch was a very special and unique person who was loved deeply by his family and everyone who knew him.
The family will receive friends 6-8 Tuesday November 22 at the church
A Celebration of life service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Seagle officiating
The family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the service
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens with Military Honors
