Stanley – Mildred Geyer Petersen, 92, passed away on March 27th at Stanley Total Living Center.
She was born in Queens, New York on July 11, 1923 to the late Frederick and Lillian Kaufman Geyer.
Mildred was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, SC where she was very active for many years. She served as a worship chairman for many years and a member of the St. John's United Methodist Women and a member of John Pettus Sunday School Class. Mildred volunteered at Piedmont Medical Center for over 26 years and served 2 years as Vice President and 2 years as President of the Volunteers Auxiliary. Mildred was a kind and compassionate woman to everyone she encountered her entire life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Fred W. Petersen and their son, Dr. Kenneth Petersen; son-in-law, John Hines
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Henderson and husband Jim of Stanley; son, Dr. Mark Petersen and wife Fran of Gilboa, NY; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 4th at 3:00 p.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, South Carolina
