Mildred Davis Blankenship

Gastonia – Mildred Davis Blankenship, 74 of 413 Rhyne Circle passed away peacefully October 9, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Gaston County, born April 10, 1939 to the late Willlis Douglas and Minnie Bell Stiles Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James William "Willie" Blankenship, Sr. who died in 2012, and her brothers Walter and Mitchell Davis, her sisters Marie Harrison, Hattie Robinson and Ellie Lowe.
Mildred was retired from Homelite with over 36 years of service, and had also retired from Tyler Ind., Bessemer City.
Survivors include her son James William "Jamie" Blankenship, Jr. and wife Susan of Dallas; Rowena B. Morrison and husband Jimmy of Vale;
Grandchildren Blaine Fisher, Nick Fisher, Sandra and Michelle Parker, Nathan and Shawn Morrison; sisters Iva Lee Groves and husband Harold of VA, Doris Carter of OK, Willene Wagoner and husband Robert; and Faye Holcombe and husband Sidney , all of Gastonia; and lifetime friends Sonja, Carolyn and Judy
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Friday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Celebration of Life service will be 11:00am Saturday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Calvert officiating.
Interment will be Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.
Pallbearers will be Nick and Blaine Fisher, Nathan Morrison, Robert Wagoner, Sidney Holcombe and Andy Clemmer.
