He was born in Gaston County on April 29, 1952 to the late Ernest L Simmons and Blanche Carringer Simmons.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his birth mother Betty Jo Reynolds and a brother, Doug
Mike was a U.S. Marine veteran.
Survivors include his brothers, Ernie, Joe, Reggie Simmons and Randy Pearson; sister Kathy Burgin; best friend Ron Bingham
A Private Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Danny Gardner officiating
