Bessemer City - Michael "Poky" James McDonald, 66, passed away on June 25, 2015. He was born in Gaston County on October 26, 1948 to the late Wilbert James and Margaret Walker McDonald.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Linda M. Watt and Mary "Cookie" Herbster; brothers, Teddy Joe Herms and Lewis "Charlie" McDonald.
Michael was a veteran of the US Army and after being in service he worked in high rise construction as well as carpentry which was his passion. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed! Survivors include his wife Debra Costner McDonald; his daughters, Lori and Allison; step daughter Dana, Brothers, Harry G. Walker and Tommy McDonald; sisters, Joyce M. Henry of Bay Town, TX; Susan Bailey of Fayetteville, NC; Evelyn M. Leigh of McAdenville, NC; and (10) grandchildren;
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Sunday, July 5th at 3:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church, 1534 Rolling Meadow Lane, Gastonia with Reverend Junior Morris officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service.
Military Honors provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to "Mills Home in Thomasville, NC" Post Office Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360.
