Gastonia – Melvin Broughton Stokes, 76, passed away on December 30, 2020 at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas, NC.
He was born in Pitt County, North Carolina on February 3, 1944 to the late Jennings Bryan and Mamie Rouse Stokes. He is also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Melvin retired from Case Heavy Equipment Company in Wilmington, NC after many years; He and Anne then moved to Gastonia in 2005.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 57 years, Anne Haddock Stokes; His daughters, Sheryl Lynn Manning (James), Lisa Michelle Stone (Mark);
grandchildren, Cori Anne Moore, Ryan Stokes Stone and Logan Garrett Stone; brother Fred Stokes (Carol); sister Nancy Everett; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
