Maxine H. Clubb

July 29, 1933 — February 21, 2012

Gastonia: Maxine Hayes Clubb, 78, slipped quietly into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday February 21. Born on July 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lena Lee Hayes, and wife of Kenneth Rogers Clubb for 52 years. A native of Gastonia, she attended local schools and graduated from Holbrook High School. She was a long time employee of Cherry, Bekaert and Holland, Certified Public Accountants as a data entry supervisor.
In her time at home, she was an accomplished seamstress, designing and creating apparel for her nieces and nephews. She was active in her church, Love Memorial Baptist Church since childhood, and as a teenager served as church pianist. She rarely missed church services except where physical limitations due to numerous orthopedic procedures made it impossible to attend.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by brothers Harold Richard Hayes and Billy Ormand Hayes. She is survived by her brothers, Nelson Hayes of Matthews, NC and Raymond Hayes of Gastonia, NC. Also a son, Gary Clubb, and wife Cathy of Blacksburg, SC, and daughter Karen Hope, and husband Bill of Clover, SC and grandson Brian Clubb and granddaughters Angel Keziah and Angela Greene, grand God-Daughters Kaylee & Kelsey Tanner, and 5 great grandchildren, Stephen, Megan, Ashleigh, Kya and Madison.
The family will receive friends Saturday 25th from 12 noon to 1:45 at Withers & Whistnant Funeral Home. A Memorial service will follow at 2:00 with the Rev. David McMahan and Rev. George Quick officiating
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Love Memorial Baptist Church, 311 E. Walnut Ave., Gastonia, NC 28054. ' Burial will be private.
The family wishes to thank the staff of 3-South at Gaston Memorial Hospital and the Hospice staff for their effortless care given to our Mother during this most difficult time. They could not have been any nicer and more helpful. Special thanks to Donald Tucker, who holds a special place in our mother's heart, and for taking care of her in the end, treating her with all the respect she so deserved.
