Mary Elizabeth Trenchard Todd, 89, formerly of Charlotte, died peacefully on September 25, 2017 at Carillion Assisted Living in Newton.
Mrs. Todd was born in Devon, England on May 30, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Daisy Trenchard.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Richard James Todd. Mary and Richard met during World War II when Richard was serving our country in the United States Army. After they married in England, Mary moved to Richard's hometown, Charlotte. She was also preceded in death by her only brother, Henry Trenchard.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Betty Jane Todd Hansil and husband Richard of Gastonia; three grandchildren, Sherry H. and David Coley of Mt. Holly, Michael T. and Toni Hansil of Lincolnton and Melissa H. and Jot Owens of Wilmington, North Carolina; four great grandchildren, Rebecca Coley of Durham, North Carolina, Dylan Coley of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Suzannah and Allison Hansil of Lincolnton, North Carolina. She is also survived by a very special niece, Mary Icenhour of Taylorsville, North Carolina.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte with Rev. Matt Thomas officiating with the Releasing of the Doves.
The family will receive friends after the service at the gravesite.
