Belmont-Mary Aileen Farr Nichols, 83 of Belmont, NC died peacefully on May 16 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 26, 1928 in Loudon, TN to the late William and Beulah Elizabeth Snyder Farr
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Joe, James, Bobby and Sam Farr
Aileen worked at Burlington for many years and Pharr Yarns for over 12 years before going to Belmont Dyes where she retired from. She was a loving wife mother and grandmother. Aileen had a caring and compassionate love for her pets Angel and Baby. She enjoyed gardening, canning, feeding the birds and working in her rose garden. She was a member of United Baptist Church for many years and most recently worshiped at Catawba Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Robert Nichols; her son Kenny Nichols and wife Lynn of Gastonia; her daughter Kay Nichols Ballard and husband Ron of Belmont; One Brother, Frank Farr and wife Brenda of Belmont; Sisters Jean Tanner and husband Chuck, Barbara McGinnis and Jerry Walton, Linda Weaver and husband Roger all of Gastonia; Pat Haney and husband Jim of Belmont; Grandchildren Jason Murphy and wife Jeanann of Dayton, OH, Robert Hooper of Belmont; Great Grandchildren Dillion, Alicia and Breeanna Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00pm Friday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19th at Catawba Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Johns officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery A Quiet Place with the Releasing of the Doves
