Mrs. Mary Geneva Lucas, 85, of 4335 Beatty Road, died August 14, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was a native of McAdenville, born May 4, 1924, daughter of the late Glen and Nora Foster Rankin. Geneva was a long life member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for Four and Five year old children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Bob Beatty who died as a veteran in WWII, second husband, Harold Lucas; brother, Bill Rankin
Survivors include her daughters: Vickie Brooks and Sandra Curran, both of Sevierville, TN.
Brother: Mickey Rankin and wife Carleen; Sister-In-Law: Mary Rankin, all of Gastonia
Sisters: Josephine Lewis, Peggy Hayes and husband James, Bobbie Nichols all of Gastonia
Grandson: Ronnie Whisnant of Sevierville, TN
Great Granddaughter: Melia Whisnant of Sevierville, TN
The Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
A Graveside Service will be 3:00pm-Sunday, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Hensley and Rev. A.A. Bailey officiating
