Gastonia- Mary Lou Helms, 76, entered into her Heavenly Home on March 14, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Gaffney, SC to the late John W. and Nora Kirkendall Yarborough.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly Louise Helms,1child, 2 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandchild.
Mary Lou was a Lay Minister with Union Presbyterian Church. She was very involved with Faith on Wheels Motorcycle Ministry of Gastonia, Hillcrest Baptist Church in York, SC where she served in foreign missions in Kenya Africa and was President of WMU, served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and she loved to sing in the choir.
Left to cherish her memories includes her husband, JW Helms; sons, Calvin Martin (Karen), Lewis Martin, son-in-law, Jerry Helms, step sons, Jamie Helms and John Helms (Teri); 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18th at Union Presbyterian Church with Reverends James Holeman and Jerry Millwood officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union Presbyterian Church, 5615 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28056
