Mary Jane Stilwell Black

Gastonia – Mary Jane Stilwell Black, 79, entered into heaven on October 1, 2022. She passed peacefully at her daughter’s home with her family by her side.

Mary was born August 27, 1943 in Andrews, Cherokee County, NC to the late William Harrison Stilwell and Marvie Rodgers Stilwell. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hubert Stilwell and a sister, Barbara Burris. She was a retired hairdresser and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a devoted Christian and loved God.  She enjoyed traveling around the world, fishing, shagging and dancing.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William J. Black; her three children, Amanda Black Caulder, William Christopher Black and Joseph Edward Black; her grandchildren, Kristin Caulder LeCroy, Elizabeth Kay Black and Lindsey Caulder; and her 4 great grandchildren; brother, Billy Stilwell and a sister, Marie Kenett as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home from 2:00 to 3:00 pm., Friday, October 7, 2022 with a Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm in the Chapel at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Bobbie Dellinger officiating.

Interment will follow at Evergreen A quiet Place.
