Rutherfordton – Mary "Cookie" Ethel Herbster, 62, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2014 at Willow Ridge Nursing Home.
She was born on July 20, 1952 in Gaston County, North Carolina to the late Wilbert James and Margaret Walker McDonald.
Cookie worked many years in textiles and was an auxiliary member of the Lowell Volunteer Fire Department.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Burris, brothers, Lewis (Charlie) McDonald, Teddy (Bo) Herms; and Sister, Linda Watts
Survivors include her sons, Patrick Burris and wife Jennifer and Chris Herbster; brothers, Harry G. Walker, Michael McDonald, Tommy McDonald; sisters, Evelyn M. Leigh, Joyce M. Henry and Susan Melendez and grandchild, Zoe Herbster.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 7 pm at Union Road Presbyterian Church with Reverend James Holeman officiating. Family will receive friends following the service.
