She was a native of Iredell County, born September 14, 1922 to the late Henry and Annie Carlton Overcash. She was retired textiles
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband's Dewey Kirkland and Albert Lee Leonard

Survivors include her daughters Sylvia Hargett and husband David of Dallas and Rachel Hubbard of Lincolnton;
Her grandchildren, Bobby Ray Cook, III and wife Carlinda; Beverly Dawn Shires and husband Timothy; Michael Jason Cook, David Jonathan Hargett and wife Kristy ; Brian Timothy Hargett and wife Wendi; Lisa Coblentz and husband David; and Charity Black ; Eight great grandchildren Christian Leigh 'Crissy' Deaton, Brianna Madison 'Maddie' Hargett, Amy & Aaron McClaim, Caleb Jordan Shires, Scott, T.J. and Seth Knight; Two great great grandchildren Jordan Knight and Grey Presley and a niece, Thelma Skipper
