Marilyn Garrett Platt

Gastonia – Marilyn Garrett Platt, 67, went home to be with the Lord at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on July 24, 2013. Born November 24, 1945 in Greenville, SC to the late Thomas Wesley and Mary Lee Field Garrett. She resided in Gastonia for the past 30 years with her husband and three children. Marilyn was a Director of Development Education at Gaston College where she was also a member of the band "The Academia Nuts" for nine years.
Marilyn is survived by her three children Gregory Platt and wife Sherry, Tia Platt Mooneyhan and husband Chris and Richard Platt and wife Michele, four beautiful grandchildren Garrett and Victoria Mooneyhan, Bethany and Nicholas Platt, her only brother Thomas Ronald Garrett and wife Margarite.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 47 years Keith Platt, granddaughter Michelle Taylor Platt.
A Family visitation and funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday July 27, 2013 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home.
Burial will be 2:00 pm Sunday July 28, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, SC with the Rev. Richard C. Lewis, Jr. officiating.
