Gastonia- Margie B. Evans, 92, of Gastonia, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at her residence. She was a native of Alarka (Swain County), NC, daughter of the late Pierce V. and Martha Brendle Barker.
She was an owner/operator of New Hope Shell Station.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Pedie Jenkins,
second husband, Thomas Joe Evans, son, Tommy Evans, daughter, Peggy Evans Moss; grandson, Jay Jenkins; brothers, Leslie, Dewey and Everett Barker;
sisters, Elizabeth Webb, Bonnie Paxton, Jessie Lee McInturf and Faye Hyde

Survivors are her sons, Hobart Jenkins of Gastonia
Jerry Jenkins and wife Brenda of Gastonia
daughters, Cozette Evans Morgan and Margaret Ann Evans, of Gastonia;
Sister, Dessie McGugan of Bryson City, NC
Five grandchildren, Jacqueline Sullens, Dawn Jenkins, Merredith Meeler, Gennipher Cordell and Frankie Lint
Six great grandchildren, special family friend, Jimmy Wallace

Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00, Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park
