Dallas – Margaret Barnes Friday, 94, entered into her Heavenly Home on September 10, 2015 at Courtland Terrace.
She was born in Gaston County on September 13, 1920 to the late Walter and Mary Auten Barnes
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edgar Franklin (Gus) Friday, II; brothers, David, Bub, Harrison and Richard Barnes; sisters, Leona Marr, Ann Kirksey, Frances Wilson and Ella Forbes
Margaret was a lifelong resident of Dallas and member of First United Methodist Church where she was the oldest member. She was the owner/operator of Dallas Carpet Company for 45 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be missed greatly! Margaret greeted everyone with her contagious smile that could light up a room and give such a welcoming hug! She was a past member of the Dallas Women's Club. Margaret had a passion and love for working with the Democratic Convention Committee. She enjoyed her years of traveling to different places with her family, siblings and special friends, Carol Jean Lineberger and Jean Harris of Dallas
Survivors include her daughter, Georgia F. Mullinax (Steve); sons, John Mark Friday and Edgar F. (Ed) Friday, III; Grandchildren, Cathy Crowder (Rick), Erick Friday, Gray Friday, Sarah Evans (William); great grandchildren; Landon and Josh Wood; Ericka, Todd and Hayley Friday; great-great grandchild Kayluh;
sisters, Betty Leagon, Wanda Fox (Dennis) and Jane Watts (Jackie); sister-in-laws, Helen Friday Cloninger and MayBeth Friday Rankin
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, September 14th from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home
Graveside Service will be Monday, September 14th at 3:00 pm at Gaston Memorial Park, Singing Tower 1 Section with Reverend Caroll Flack officiating.
Pallbearers will be Rick Crowder, William Evans, Josh Wood, Erick Friday, Scott Pagan and Benny Wilson.
The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers and for the care she received while at Courtland Terrace and Gaston Hospice.
