Manley Grubbs
Gastonia- Manley Loranza Grubbs, 87 of 2707 Monterey Park Drive, Gastonia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ February 22, 2014, at the Robin Johnson House surrounded by his loving family.
Manley was a native of Greer, SC born April 4, 1926 to the late Reverend Frank Grubbs and Ida Bagwell Grubbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law Doug Badger, his brothers and sisters, Edgar, Leonard, Vernon, Jessie, Mary, Ruth, Hazel and Bessie and his beloved cat "Kitty Tom" whom he loved dearly.
Manley was a member of Garver Memorial Baptist Church, Modena Street,
and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Faye Garver Grubbs; his son Kenneth Grubbs (Libby); a daughter Pam Badger all of Kings Mt.;
Grandchildren, Candy Self Early (Jack), Crystal Hughes (Doug), Derek Badger, Angie Bryson (Terry), Tequila Badger
Great grandchildren Meagan Davis (Chris), Gavin Bryson, Dustin Brown, Nathan Miller, Amber Storm Bolin, Zack Badger, Sami Badger and Mason Hanif;
great great grandchildren Kenleigh Brown and Jotham Davis
Several nieces and nephews, as well as many dear and loving friends who are considered family
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Tuesday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Celebration of Life service will be at 3:00pm Wednesday at Garver Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Alex David Stewart officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Military honors by The Gaston County Honor Guard Pallbearers will be Derek Badger, Dustin Brown, Terry Bryson, Doug Hughes, Danny Garver and Brian Slagle; Honorary Pallbearers will be Zack Badger, Gavin Bryson and Mason Hanif
