Gastonia – Luther "Rudy Ray" Dennis Ghorley, Jr., 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7th at CaroMont Regional Medical Center,
He was born in Gaston County on January 28, 1953 to Geraldine Johnson Ghorley and the late Luther Dennis Ghorley, Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Ghorley and Billy Joe Johnson; sister, Kay Frances.
Rudy had a BIG heart for everyone and he never met a stranger. He was an outstanding horseshoe player and loved all kinds of sports. He was a simple man who loved his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed!
Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Susan Reneau Ghorley; son, Josh Ghorley; daughters, Amy Ghorley West (Todd) and Madison Ghorley;
grandchildren, Kacee Newton, Matt West and Emmerick Dishong; great grandchild, Mason James; his mother, Geraldine Ghorley;
brothers, Charles Ghorley, Luther SIdney Ghorley and Jerry Ghorley; sisters, Libby Ghorley Hilton, Sylvia Gibbie (Ronnie) and Patsy Lewis;
and best friend, Keith Anthony.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., Thursday, January 10th at Love Memorial Baptist Church prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m. with Reverend Mike Criswell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Love Memorial Baptist Church, 311 E. Walnut Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28054.
