Lula Griffin
1936-2015

Gastonia- Lula Earlene Lockman Griffin, 79, passed away suddenly on July 23, 2015 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center
She was born in Wadesboro, NC on May 7, 1936 to the late Earl O and Sudie Wallace Lockman.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Whichard.
Lula graduated from Chester High School in Chester, SC. She earned a ministerial degree from Marilyn Hickey Bible College in Denver, CO. Lula was a member of New Covenant Church. She worked for Southern Bell in New Orleans, LA as well as Gaffney and Columbia, SC before retiring after 27 years of service.
Lula was a lover of music. She played country and gospel in many bands throughout her life, in church, with her family. She owned her own music publishing company, Seaport City Music and wrote and recorded her own original songs.

Lula was a lifelong servant of Christ, who ministered through words, deeds, music, and in the way she lived every day. A graduate of Bible College with a degree in Biblical Studies, she was an example for all those who knew her of how to live faithfully and passionately. Diligent, selfless, and steadfast, she never let convention prevent her from providing help to those who needed it. She sought out chances to teach, to guide, to embrace, and to share the love of Christ with others.

'Memaw' had a big family to share her big heart. She was an especially loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memories include: her children Susan Bumgardner (Jeff), Thomas Vernon Griffin, Jr., and David Gladwin Griffin (Mariana); ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and her constant companion, Princess Grace.
