Lowell-Mrs. Loretta Kay "Nunnie" Underdown, 64 of Lowell passed away September 6, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Gaston County, NC born June 22, 1949 to Viola Elizabeth Carpenter Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband of 40yrs, Ronald Steven Underdown, who died in 2008, a daughter Theresa Lynn Styles and a brother William Jenkins.
Nunnie was a hairdresser and had retired from textiles. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved to sew. She attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include children Virginia K. Benfield and husband Billy Ray, Michelle McCurry and husband Michael;
grandchildren Kenny White, Cassondra Leatherman, Matthew Sigmon, Timothy Cline, Kyle Underdown, Tabitha White, Nick McCurry, Chakotay White and Terry White; and a great grandson Averee;
brothers Randy and John Jenkins;
sisters Sadie Sanders, Iris Barger and Ann Walker
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Monday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Celebration of life service will be 11:00am Tuesday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Kinman officiating
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, with the Releasing of the Doves
