Lloyd Burwell Hoffman

Gastonia – Lloyd Burwell Hoffman, 75 of Gastonia passed away peacefully June 14, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at Alexandria Place. He was a native of Lowell, NC, born September 3, 1937 to the late Judson and Wilma Propst Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Cecil Hoffman and his baby sister Loreece. Lloyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he was a family man, loved spending time with his family camping and boating. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving as a member of the Marine Corp League and the American Legion. Lloyd was a graduate of Lowell High School and attended Gardner Webb before join the Marines. He worked at Southern Bell for a few years before retiring from Burlington Industrials and later working at Walmart. He met his wife at Sandy Plains Baptist Church where they were married at.
Survivors include his wife of almost 53 years, Nancy Hinkle Hoffman; his children Rodney Hoffman and wife Darla of Clover, Darlene Jarvis and husband Ray of Gastonia, Paula Medlin and husband Keith of Clover; grandchildren Kacy and Clint Medlin, Zack, Allison and Rebecca Jarvis; step grandchildren Ryan and Jaclyn Helms, Justin and Maggie Helms, Jeremy and Jenny Helms; sister-in-law Faye Whiten and husband Gary of Gastonia; niece Annette Myers and husband Jeff, nephews Michael Hoffman and wife Michelle, and Larry Cody and wife Shea
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Celebration of Life service will be 3:00pm Monday at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Stephen Hensley and Reverend A.A. Bailey officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors
