Leonard "Lenny" Branigan

April 4, 1941 — January 25, 2015

Clover- Leonard "Lenny" Robert Branigan, AKA "Papa Smurf", passed away of natural causes in his home in Clover on January 25, 2015.

Lenny was born in Warwick, Rhode Island on April 4, 1941 to late Chester and Alice Maroney Branigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Barbara Bellrose and Claire C. Richards

Lenny was a prominent member of the Harley Davidson Community and a dedicated brother in the Huscarls Riding Club of Clover, SC. He served as a sergeant in the US Army from 1965-1971. He was loved and will be greatly missed by many. Ride on "Papa Smurf"….

Survivors include his long time companion, Lori Conner; daughters, Dawn Branigan Morris, April Branigan, Joy Branigan and Kristi Fortenberry; sons, Tom Sliney, George Behney; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sister, Margaret M. Souza and his beloved dog, Eli-Pretty Boy

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, January 30th from 6 - 9 pm at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 31st at 1 pm at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Cody Williams officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
