Gastonia- Jennings Leon Hatcher, 87 passed away on January 11, 2015 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Gaston County on March 19, 1927 to the late Robert Amos and Jennie Woody Hatcher
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Earl Hatcher
Mr. Hatcher was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, he also served as a Boy Scout Leader, Past President of Gaston Industrial Management Club, North Carolina Accounting Council, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and Circle C. Mr. Hatcher was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. He retired from Akers Motor Lines with many years of service. He was very loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Madge Andrews Hatcher; his children Robert Andrew Hatcher of Gastonia, Timothy Howard Hatcher (Dale) of Cheshire, CT, Myra Jane Mallard (Lee) of LaGrange, NC, and Elizabeth Ann Brown (Ted) of Kannapolis, NC
Three Grandchildren Matthew and Lucas Brown, Arlo Hatcher
Brother, Bobby Hatcher (Juanita) of Forest City, NC
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 14th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Bayes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00pm prior to the service
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Four Season section
