Leola was born September 1, 1933, in Gaston County NC, and entered into her heavenly home May 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. Leola was the daughter of the late: Andrew J Smith and Sarah Ellen Peavy Smith of Cramerton NC. The youngest of 9 children.
Leola is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, Daniel Harold Beaty; one grandchild; 4 brothers, Willie L Smith (wife Ruby) Roy T Smith, Virgil Smith ( wife Ruby) Luther Smith; 4 sisters, Eunice Smith, Edna C Smith Bridges, (husband Harley) Thelma L Smith Weathers (husband Ned) Katie Ruth Smith Eller (husband A.C.).
On March 23, 1957, Leola married Daniel Harold Beaty and remained married to Dan until he passed on July 15, 2003.
Leola is a Member of Life Church Cramerton, NC. (Cramerton Church of God) for 76 Years. Where she and Dan were Ministers of the Senior Citizens Group taking tours and travels and holding monthly meetings with wonderful meals.
Leola attempted to take piano lessons at a young age, but was told by the teacher, "She didn't need her as a Teacher". Leola had a talent for music playing piano, drums and the accordion for many revival services, church services, and singers.
Leola is survived by her children: Joy Beaty Gibson husband Larry of Gastonia NC; Melanie Beaty Duncan husband Max of Elizabethtown NC; Michael A Beaty of Gastonia and Vickie, Jeffrey S Beaty wife Betty Jean of Mt Holly NC; Myra B Adams husband Reverend Vernon of Wilmington NC, Todd Beaty wife Sonya of Bessemer City NC; Kristie B Crisp husband Ike of Cramerton NC. Leola is survived by: fifteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
We the Children would like to Thank Marla, Claudette, and Shantea of Gaston County Hospice for All the care and kindness that was shown toward Mama in her last days.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you take time to hug your children, grandchildren, and friends ... Time waits for no one.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia.
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, in the Dogwood Section of Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. Vernon Adams officiating and with the Releasing of the Doves. Pallbearers are Todd Beaty, Kristie Crisp, Joshua Beaty, Jeffrey Beaty, Andy Duncan, Johnathan Gibson.
