Gastonia – James Leland Robinson, 77 passed away peacefully on August 21, 2016 at Gastonia Rehab and Health Center with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Gaston County on July 15, 1939 to Leland Jenkins and Ruth Bailey Robinson.
Leland enjoyed golf, fishing, and reading and loved to cook. He attended NC State and was an avid NC State Wolfpack fan. But most of all he loved being a grandpa and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband father, grandfather and friend. He retired from P.I.E. International as a supervisor in trucking transportation; and served in the U.S. Army for 6 years. Leland was a member of First Wesleyan Church, Gastonia.
Survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Jane Grove Robinson; his children, James William Robinson (Betsy), Gregory Allen Robinson (Kim), Andrew Lloyd Robinson and Christine Anne Robinson; five grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Smith (Justin), Emily Martin (Andrew), Matthew, Patrick and Faith Robinson.
Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 24th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 p.m., August 24th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Smith and Military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
Interment will be Private at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the administrative and nursing staff of Gaston Hospice and Gastonia Care and Rehabilitation Center for their dedicated and loving care extended to their family.
