Lawrence Houston Lanning, Jr.

Gastonia – Lawrence Houston “Larry” Lanning, Jr., 87, passed away July 13, 2022, at Atrium Health.

Lincolnton.

He was born in Greensboro, NC, to the late Lawrence Houston Lanning and Sarah Melissa Lyman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Mark David Lanning.

He retired from management in retail. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his Romeo Group in Greensboro. He also was a basketball coach and very proud to be a Big Brother.

Left to cherish Larry’s memory is his devoted daughter, Rhonda Lynn and husband Ron; his grandsons, Mark Lynn and Joshua Lynn (Amanda) and their children, Marissa and Kennedy; sister Betty Durham in Greensboro.

A Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday July 17, 2022  at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cancer Services of Gaston County, 306 South Columbia Street, Gastonia, NC  28054
