Laura Elizabeth Ballard Rhyne

Laura Elizabeth Ballard Rhyne, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on July 12, 2023, in Shelby, North Carolina. She was born on October 15, 1942, in Gaston County, North Carolina. Laura's lifelong role as a homemaker and family caregiver exemplified her unwavering love and dedication to her loved ones.

Laura's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her son and his family. She cherished every moment spent with them, especially Patrick and Shelbi. Laura's nurturing spirit and selflessness shone through as she prioritized the well-being and happiness of her family above all.

Throughout her life, Laura found joy in the simple pleasures. She loved traveling to new places and casting a fishing line alongside her beloved husband. The tranquility she found while surrounded by nature's beauty was a testament to her appreciation for the world around her. In addition to this, Laura had a green thumb and took immense pride in tending to her flowers. Her garden bloomed with vibrant colors that reflected the warmth of her heart. Laura was a member of Firestone Wesleyan Church.

To honor Laura's life and celebrate the impact she had on those around her, visitation services will be held on July 14, 2023, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia, North Carolina. The visitation will begin at 6:00 PM and continue until 8:00 PM.

A funeral service will follow on July 15, 2023, also at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation with Pastor Don Avore officiating.. The service will commence at 2:00 PM to pay tribute to the beautiful life of Laura  Ballard Rhyne. Friends and family are invited to gather together to offer their condolences and share cherished memories during this time of remembrance. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, section, Four Seasons 1.

Laura leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her beloved son, Thomas Patrick "Tommy" Rhyne, Jr. and his wife Kristi, and their children, Patrick and Shelbi Rhyne; her brother, Ronnie Ballard. Her memory will live on through Tommy and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit.

Laura is now reunited with her father, Willis Arnold Ballard, her mother, Hazel Haney Ballard, and her loving husband of 42 wonderful years,who passed away in 2011, Thomas Patrick Rhyne Sr.

The loss of Laura Rhyne leaves a void in the lives of those who loved her, but her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire us. May she rest in eternal peace as we hold onto the precious memories she created during her time with us.
