Larry Thomas Gibson

Larry Thomas Gibson, 66, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, North Carolina. Born on April 15, 1958 in Gaston County, North Carolina, Larry was the son of James Edd and Genevieve Reeves Gibson. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Fore and husband Charlie.

Larry worked many years at Dick's Sporting Goods as the Golf Lead. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and he enjoyed singing, trout fishing, playing golf, and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

One of Larry's favorite pastimes was spending time with family, especially his grandbabies.

Larry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joy Gibson; his children, Lynsey Gibson (Zac Badger) and Johnathan Gibson (Nicolle); grandbabies, Ashlynn and Hayden Gibson; brother, Jerry Gibson (Teresa), sister, Carolyn Whitesides (Donnie) and many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

In memory of Larry, A Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024 in the Chapel at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
