Gastonia - Kenneth Steven "Mousie" Crouse, 66, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Mecklenburg County on February 20, 1950 to Alice Nell Huffstetler Crouse and the late Homer Kenneth Crouse.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mary Huffstetler, Thomas and Edna Crouse and step-son, Michael Loftin.
Steve was a loving son, brother and friend to many. He attended Robinson Elementary School and a high school graduate of Hunter Huss. Steve completed the Automotive Mechanics program through Gaston College. He was a member of the Gastonia Lodge #369 and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., U.S.A. Steve retired from Duke Energy after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Mt. Holly. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, reading books, magazines, and an avid researcher. He strongly believed in vitamins and alternative medicine. He was very active at the YMCA and walked everyday faithfully at Riverwood. He was a perfectionist machinist and welder. Steve loved sowing his corn fields and giving his harvest to friends and family. Everyone knew that Steve was a natural born perfectionist he inherited this fine trait from his father!
Left to cherish his memories include his mother, Nell Huffstetler Crouse, her special friend Ed Morton; brother, George Thomas "Tommy" Crouse and wife Wanda of Lake Wylie, SC; sister, Debra C. Payseur; step-granddaughter, Josie Loftin; nephews, Dean Fore (Amanda) of Nashville, TN; Chris Crouse of Lake Wylie, SC; Jonathan Payseur of Pittsboro, NC; Jason Payseur (Nicole); Justin Payseur (Melanie);
Great nephews, Noah Collier and Lucas Fore; Carson Payseur and Elijah Payseur;
Great nieces, Addesyn Payseur and Emma Payseur and numerous cousins.
Family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19th at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with A Celebration of life Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. in the church with Reverend Tom Kinman and Reverend Dan Crowley officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Gastonia Lodge 369 AFAM.
