Gastonia – Kay Walker Atchley, 65 of Gastonia passed away April 17, 2013 at the Robin Johnson House with her family and friends at her bedside.
She was a native of Gaston County, NC born December 27, 1947 to Margaret E. Braswell Walker and the late James Buster Walker, Sr.
Kay was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church, and had retired from Gaston County DSS as an Administrative Supervisor.
She enjoyed camping and trips to the beach, and most of all loved spending time with her very special grandson Lane.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, C.L. Atchley;
son, Chad L Atchley and grandson and love of her life Lane Atchley;
her mother Margaret B. Walker of Gastonia;
and her mother-in-law, Flossie J. Atchley of Gastonia
Brother Jackie Walker and wife Gina of Gastonia,
Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Donna Nichols of Dallas;
Nieces and nephews of Bessemer City, Gastonia and Dallas
The family will receive friends from 2: 30 until 4:00pm Sunday , April 21 prior to the 4:00 pm Chapel service at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating
Interment will be Private
