Katherine Dye
1932-2017
Gastonia – Katherine Ruth Dye, 84 passed away on April 15, 2017 surrounded by her family in the loving care of hospice at the Robin Johnson House.
She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on October 10, 1932 to the late Frank and Mary Kate Carter Chatman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Max R Dye, daughter, Patsy Lovell; brothers, J.R., Bill, Jack and Roy Chatman; sisters, Mary Sue Edwards and Linda Toney.
Katherine love the Lord and her church family where she attended at Ranlo Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and cake decorator by trade and loved spending time with her family. She loved Halloween because she got to see the kids and give out candy! She enjoyed riding around listening to Elvis; feeding the ducks at Gaston Memorial Park and talking to her husband Max. One of Katherine's favorite pastimes was going to Walmart, She LOVED Walmart!! She loved Pepsi Cola and Strawberry milkshakes. Katherine was known as "Ms Maytag", she really enjoyed washing clothes and ironing; even ironing socks.
Left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Judy Beam and husband David, Kathy Norton and Gloria Howe, Donna Foreman and husband Alan,Tammy Cape; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother Tommy Chatman and sister Carolyn Culberson
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 19th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with A Celebration of Life service to be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Mark Chatman officiating.
Interment will be at Evergreen A Quiet Place Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Chris Williams, Austin Williams, Zackary Foreman, Curtis Brooks, Charles Toney, Jr., and Nathan Robbins
