Dallas – Corporal Katelyn "Kate" Tyler Self, 26, was taken from this world way too soon and joined her Heavenly father on May 20, 2018.

She was born in Mecklenburg County on March 26, 1992 to Roger and Dianne Crosby Self.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jane Crosby and Guy Self, and her sister-in-law, Amanda Self.

Kate was raised in Dallas and a graduate of North Gaston High School and attended Gaston College. She was a Deputy with the Gaston County Sheriff's Office for 4 years. Kate was a member of Venture Church, Dallas.
She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all; but most of all to her beloved soon to be husband Alex Burns.

If you knew Kate, she positively influenced your life in many ways, and we all will miss her very much. Her memory will live on in all who loved her forever.

Left to cherish her memories includes her mother, Dianne Crosby Self; her fiancé
Alex Burns; her sister, Taylor Potter and her husband Phillip; brothers, Jason Self (Irma)
and Joshua Self; nieces and nephew, Kennedy, Kyndall and Kaleb; grandparents, Bobbie and Joe Caldwell, Howard Crosby; Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and too many friends to mention; and Alex's parents, Mark and Georgia Burns.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2018 prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 10th at First Assembly of God, 777 South Myrtle School Road, Gastonia with Pastor Austin Rammell officiating.

Interment will follow at Hovis Family Cemetery, Dallas, NC.
Pallbearers will be Sergeant Scott Shirley, Deputy Matt Erwin, Deputy Christopher Bryson, Carmelita Whitlock, Anthony Johnson and Jordan Goins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Gaston County Sheriff's Office and the City of Gastonia Police Department.
