Dallas - Kate Brown Holland died peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Terrace Ridge Assisted Living in Gastonia.
She was born in Gaston County on March 9, 1926, to James Floyd Brown and Lona Smith Brown.
In addition to her parents, Kate is preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Holland; her sisters, Frances Brown Bradshaw, and Linda Brown; her brother, Mervin Brown; sister-in law, Margie Brown; and brother-in-law, Lee Stroupe.
She is survived by her children, Ron (Amy) Holland and Jeff (Donna Paysour),Holland, her grandchildren Millie Clemmons, Joe Holland (Brandy), Sara Bone (Jeremy), Josh, and Justen Holland and her great grandchildren, Meredith Clemmons, Jack and Lilly Holland, and CJ and Miles Bone, sister Rachel Stroupe, brothers Bill Brown and Joe (Kitty) Brown, and sister-in-law Betty Brown.
Kate was a member of Dallas Baptist Church. She, with her husband Frank, owned and operated Holland Supermarket in Dallas for many years.
The family would like to give special thanks to Barron Lee and Dallas Baptist Church members for their faithful and continued support of Kate with their visits, cards, and prayers.
Also, the family would like to express thanks and sincere appreciation to the staff of Terrace Ridge Assisted Living for the loving care they gave to Kate throughout the six years that she was with them and to Gaston Hospice for providing special care during Kate's last months.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14th in the parlor of Dallas Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow with Reverend Barron Lee officiating. Burial will take place at Gaston Memorial Park at a later date.
