Judy Kay Harbin Hooper, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Judy was born in Gaston County on August 3, 1947, and peacefully passed away on April 21, 2024, at Wendover Hospice House, Shelby.
Her true joy stemmed from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her hobbies and interests outside of work, particularly working in her flowers. Her green thumb and love for nature brought beauty and tranquility to all who knew her.
Described as a Godly woman with a devout Christian faith, Judy's life was filled with kindness, compassion, and a strong sense of family values. Her proudest accomplishments included not only her beloved family, her flowers but also her deep affection for all animals, especially her cherished cats.
In the presence of her beloved family, Judy peacefully left this world to be reunited with her Maw, Cora and Paw, Daniel Harbin, her mother, Mamie Harbin McConnell, and son-in-law, James Stanton Burgess in eternal peace.
Judy leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by her husband of over 55 years, Lewis Calvin Hooper; daughters Shelley Hooper Burgess and Jennifer Hooper (Gino); grandchildren James Arthur Burgess, Robert Darien Bess (Kylie), and Zana Shay Bess (Austin); great-grandchildren Lincoln Scott Bess and Lucas Jameson Bess; sister Yolanda Emory; brothers Barry, Jerry, and Terry McConnell; as well as several nieces who held a special place in her heart.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A visitation to honor Judy's life will be held on Thursday, April 25th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home, Gastonia. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Burial will take place at Gaston Memorial Park, New Masonic section from 3:00 PM to 3:15 PM on the same day.
