1936-2018

Belmont - Joyce Bishop Cook, 82, entered into Heaven on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. Joyce was born in Cramerton on April 30, 1936 and was the daughter of the late John Earl and Geraldine Reel Bishop.

Joyce was a graduate of Cramerton High School, Mars Hill College and received her B.S. degree from Appalachian State University. Joyce retired after 32 years with Gaston County Schools, she taught at Belmont Central School, Belmont Junior High School and taught for almost 28 years at Catawba Heights Elementary School.

Joyce is a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was a former member for over 54 years at Tuckaseegee Baptist Church. She was a member of the Cramerton Senior Citizens Club, Belmont Gadabouts and Tuckaseegee Baptist Church "Prime Timers".

Joyce leaves to cherish her memories her husband for almost 60 years, Bill Cook; daughter, Pamela Cook Stroup and husband David of Mt. Holly; son, Rev. Lee Cook and wife Jennifer of Reidsville, North Carolina; one grandson and wife, John and Kaylee Stroup of Gastonia; special cousin and her husband, Carolyn and Tommy Sanders and several other cousins.

The family will receive family and friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church, 5008 South New Hope Road, Belmont with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Jan Deans, Rev. Doug Bryant and Rev. Lee Cook officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.
