Joseph Lee Poole, known affectionately as Joe, was born on August 2, 1939, in Gaston County, North Carolina. He passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, surrounded by his beloved family. Joe lived a life full of love and dedication, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
A devoted husband to his wife of over 50 years, Susan Clanton Poole, Joe exemplified the meaning of partnership, support, and unwavering love. Together, they created a nurturing home for their three daughters: Lisa Salmanca, Martha Wooten, and Susan Lee Felton (Ronny). Joe's love extended beyond his immediate family, as he was blessed with eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought joy and pride into his life.
Joe's career reflected his diverse talents; he spent many years working as a truck driver before pursuing his passion as a machinist, where he dedicated himself to building and serving motorcycles. Riding his motorcycle became one of his proudest accomplishments, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for the open road. In addition to his professional pursuits, Joe found joy in fishing and hunting, indulging in these pastimes among friends, notably as a founding member of the Southern Gentlemen.
His character was shaped by his values and beliefs, being a devoted member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, where he nurtured his strong faith. Joe served honorably in the U.S. Marines, embodying the principles of service and dedication that defined his life.
As we celebrate Joe's life, we remember not only his accomplishments and hobbies but also the warmth of his personality. Loved ones will fondly recall his heartfelt devotion to his family, his gentle spirit, and the countless moments of laughter and affection that brought them closer together.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, James Garfield Poole and Martha Harwell Poole, alongside his siblings, Joseph Lee Poole, Jr., Ricky Lee Poole, Frankie Arant, Tonya Isenhour, and sister Linda Church. Though they are no longer with us, the legacy of love and devotion they instilled will endure through Joe's family.
