Dallas – Joseph "Joe" Earle Ferguson, 67 passed away on May 2, 2018 after a 6 year courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Gaston County on November 20, 1950 to the late Edwynne Shell and James L. Ferguson.

Joe grew up in Dallas and spent his early years playing basketball, football and baseball. Later in life, he enjoyed playing golf and riding his motorcycle; as well as being an avid Tar Heel fan. Joe spent any free time that he had at Holden Beach and at the Hickory Nut Family campground in Chimney Rock, NC. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Dallas. He worked as an Industrial Engineer for American & Efird.

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed. He enjoyed spending time with his family including his daughters, grandchildren and son-in-laws.

Left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Carriker Ferguson; daughters, Lindsay Ferguson Hall and husband Chris; Christine Ferguson Weaver and husband Josh; grandchildren, Sophie Jane Hall, Harper Shell Hall and Bristol Lee Hall;
brothers, James Ferguson and wife Susan C. Ferguson; John Ferguson and wife Ruth B Ferguson;
and numerous nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 5th from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in the Christian Fellowship Center, 301 West Main Street, Dallas with the Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday in the Sanctuary with Reverend Caroll Flack officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Long Creek Memorial Cemetery, Dallas with the releasing of the doves.

Pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Butch Robinson, Don Britton and Alan Price.
