Gastonia – Johnny Ray Stamey, 58, passed away at his residence on April 24, 2018.
He was born in Gaston County on April 14, 1960 to the late John Charles and Alice Rick Stamey.
Johnny was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. He loved gardening and racing. But most of all he loved spending time with his son Rusty. He was a former employee of Steel Specialty Company in Belmont.
Survivors include his son, John Russell "Rusty" Stamey and wife Jessika; brothers, Jerry Stamey, Don Stamey and wife Joan; sisters, Sheila Graham, Kathy Ledford and husband Junior; Pam Samples and husband Brian.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 27th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and the Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Allen Lefler officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont, NC with the releasing of the doves.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and/or donations may be made to the family c/o Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
