John F. Lewis

DALLAS - John Franklin Lewis, 60, died Oct. 18, 2009, at his residence.

Johnny was a native of Gaston County, born Sept. 4, 1949, to the late Tom Craig Lewis and Bobbie Harris Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two aunts, Elizabeth Froneberger Lewis and Martha Modena Lewis.

While in the Peace Corp. Johnny served in Katmandu Nepal. He had great interest in The Schiele Museum of Natural History and was very fond of Nature, and archaeologist preserves. Johnny also enjoyed his teaching profession. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity, UNCC.

Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Craig Lewis of Dallas; niece, Tammi Craig Rushing, and a great nephew, Carter Lewis Rushing of Dallas.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Dallas Baptist Church Fellowship Building.

A graveside service will immediately follow at Dallas Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Church Street Dallas with Rev. Barron Lee officiating.

Memorials may be made to Dallas Baptist Church, 402 W. Trade St., Dallas NC, 28034.

Family will be at the home of Elizabeth Lewis, 1525 Laurel Alexis Court, Dallas.
