John "Bill" Jackson, Jr.

John "Bill" Jackson, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023 with his loving family at his side.

He was born to the late, John B. Sr. and Grace Jackson on August 4, 1944 in Gastonia, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Rita Jackson.

Billy graduated from Ashley high school, and then was drafted into the US Army soon after he served in France, Germany, and the Vietnam war. After being discharged, he returned to Gastonia enrolling at Kings College in Charlotte. He spent many years as a medical supply courier and was an avid gun collector.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon J. Howell and husband, Randy; son, John M Jackson; grandsons, Cole, and Caleb Howell; sister, Bobbi J. Jackson; brother, David P. Jackson; nephew, Travis Jackson and wife, Leslie. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 22 at 1:00 PM at Withers & Whisenant funeral home followed by a private burial. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Barry Paul at Atrium Main along with all nurses and staff within hematology and oncology department, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mercy Hospital. Your kindness, care, and compassion of Mr. Jackson, and his family was truly appreciated.
