He was a native of Rock Hill, SC, born September 7, 1942 to the late John Boyce and Sallie Campbell Childress. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Melanie Denise Childress

He was survived by wife of 45 years Barbara Yandle Childress
His children John Boyce Childress, Charles Douglas Childress, Michael S. Mills, Timothy W. Mills, Kathy Mills Hinson, Joseph M Mills, Jason Floyd Childress; One brother Samuel Douglas Childress; a uncle William Campbell and a aunt Helen Taylor
Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren
Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Boyce Childress and Chief Mikko Ayo officiating
