Gastonia – John Arvil Brack, 83 passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 23, 1931 in Hebbardsville, KY to the late Commodore and Annie Bennett Brack. Mr. Brack retired as an Ironworker with H.H. Robertson. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was very active, serving as Deacon, treasurer, head of building committee and enjoyed driving the church bus for the seniors. John was a dedicated family man and enjoyed playing golf. He served in the U.S. Army and was a 32nd Degree Mason

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dillard Brack and sister Thelma Knight

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Faye Brown Brack; his children John A. Brack, Jr., (Sue), Greg Brack (Judy), Steven Brack (Sharon), Jenny Creighton (Joe), Bryant Brack (Laura), Linda DeMar (Joe), and Glenda Crosby (Jeff);
fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother Buster Brack and sister Neda Johnson

The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00pm, Thursday prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church
Celebration of Life service will be 2:00pm, Thursday, Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 York Hwy, Gastonia with Reverend Josh Glandon officiating
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park (Garden of Honor B Section) with Military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard
Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054 and Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 York Hwy, Gastonia, NC 28052
