Gastonia – Joe Quinton Garner, 71, passed away on April 5, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Joe was born in Guilford County on September 15, 1945 to the late Gregg S. and Cornelia Jackson Garner. Beside his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dixie G. Allen and a brother Cpl. Austin L. Garner

Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. Joe was an avid bowler at Liberty Lanes, a lifelong fisherman and loved the outdoors. He loved all sports and was a lifelong fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Joe loved people and never met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memories include wife of 44 years, Rebecca K. Garner, sons and daughters-in-law: Joe and Randi Garner, Jon and Cat Garner, grandson Sawyer Garner, sister Connie G. Chambers and brother-in-law Bob Allen. He also has numerous nieces and nephews and best friends Mike Uselman and Alan Lambert. Special thanks to Dr. Amara Amarasingh.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 8,th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm, will follow in the chapel with Military Rites given by the Gaston County Honor Guard. Interment will be private.

Memorials may be sent to the Gaston County Honor Guard, 2340 Gaines Ave., Gastonia, NC 28054 and/or Myers United Methodist, 301 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
