Gastonia – Jobill "Jo" Nelson Bowman, 71, passed away on December 1, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Bowman was born August 17, 1947 in Ararat, Virginia to the late Perry and Mary Alice Harold Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn, Marvin, Malcolm, Harry Joseph Bowman; sisters, Etta Stanley and Teresa Stanley.
Mr. Bowman was a veteran of the US Army where he served during Vietnam. He worked as a carpenter in construction for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him!
Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife, Maxine Bowman; son, Joseph Bowman and wife Roberta of Luray, VA; daughter, Lisa Bowman Prather and husband Jamie of Gastonia; grandchildren, Alex and Alexis Bowman; brother, Clyde Bowman and sisters, Elaine Draughn, Effie Sawyers and Edith Sawyers.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Saturday, December 8th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12:00 noon Reverend Mike Criswell officiating. Military honors provided by the Gaston Honor Guard and NC National Honor Guard. Entombment will be held at a later date in the VA Salisbury Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
