Gastonia – Joan Chaney Barnes, 84 passed away peacefully on February 22, 2018.
She was born in Gaston County on June 21, 1933 to the late Fred and Leota Crisp Chaney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Robert Barnes.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend who will be greatly missed!
Joan was a retired nurse; and a member of West Franklin Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memories includes her four sons, Jimmy (Lynn) Barnes, Rick (Tammy) Barnes, Jeff (Kim) Barnes and Eric (Tanya) Barnes; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Matt, Richie, Brent, Danielle, Chaney and Trey and two great grandchildren, Levi and Hunter; brother, William Chaney;
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
